Problem of the Week
I've started assigning my Algebra 2 students a weekly challenge problem with a two-fold goal of giving students practice in problem solving and making students explain their solutions in words. One of the hardest parts for me when writing these problems is to ask questions that students will know when they have a correct answer to. To overcome this difficulty, I've found it helpful when students are able to check their answer to a question by either graphing a function on Desmos or by applying a procedure the class is already comfortable with. Below are the best of the PoWs for the past school year.
