Below are the products I used.
Up until now whenever I shifted the front gear to its highest setting, the chain would fall of the outside. I learned that the two gleaming screws above are what to adjust to fix that problem. Now the chain doesn't fall off. Throughout this project I'm trying to be okay with not understanding everything there is to know about the bike. I'm taking deliberate steps along these lines to limit what I learn: when I cleaned the chain today, I left the chain on the bike rather than taking it off for a more thorough clean. It was a lot easier that way.

Remember not to use the citrus degreaser if your father in law is coming around. At least, if you like him to see.
